Telugu Brahmins made up the family where S. P. Balasubrahmanyam was born. His mother was Sakunthalamma, and his father, S. P. Sambamurthy, was a Harikatha artist. He had five sisters and two brothers. Popular South Indian singer, actor, and producer S. P. Charan is also his son.
